Megan Wilson, Menchville High School '22, Newport News

Thank You letter to our Chapter

Dear Greater Hampton Roads Alumni Chapter,

I would like to extend my thanks for being chosen to receive The Rose Marie Anderson Scholarship! I am grateful for your kindness and generosity in helping me pursue my dreams of becoming a forensic analyst as this scholarship award allows me to continue my educational journey at this wonderful university. I apologize for not being able to attend the send-off picnic to receive this award in person but am nevertheless grateful for this opportunity that you have provided me.

I am currently a junior majoring in Forensic Chemistry and am a student of the Schreyer Honors College, as well as a member of the Club Ultimate Frisbee team and the Club Pickleball team. I am part of the Forensic Science Club through which I am able to give back to the community by helping to organize Haunted U, a volunteer event to teach kids about different aspects of the world of forensic science. In the coming year, I will begin working on a research project that will help the forensic chemistry community and will hopefully lead to lower wrongful conviction rates. I plan to pursue a master's degree in analytical chemistry after graduating from Penn State and seek a career as a forensic technician for the FBI.

Receiving this scholarship is a steppingstone to achieving all the goals I have set for myself, and I would once again like to express my gratitude for this opportunity.

With much appreciation and thanks,

Megan Wilson

Passing of Alan Keller

The Hampton Roads Chapter is mourning the loss of our Treasurer Alan Keller, '74 Aerospace Engineering, who died suddenly and unexpectedly on  Sept. 26.  Alan was elected to the board in 2018 and served as Treasurer since then. He will be missed by all and we will "treasure" his memory. Please see a tribute to our humble and dedicated fellow alum on the NEWS page, which includes some background that may surprise you- including the fact that this soft-spoken retired Air Force Colonel was a jet fighter pilot.

Condolences may be sent to Karen Keller, 4 Zilber Ct., Hampton, VA 23669
